Hidenori Goto (後藤 英徳, Gotō Hidenori) is a policeman who is diligent in his work, but he doesn't have a strong sense of justice. He finds out who Samurai Flamenco is one day and his daily life has become busy and troublesome since.

Appearance[]

Personality[]

Hidenori is a usually calm but stern young man with a slightly bleaker outlook on life than Masayoshi Hazama, this is most likely due to the tragic incident that was the loss of his girlfriend in high school. Due to this event, he now sends himself text messages to comfort himself over her loss. He seems to be less naive than Masayoshi in many ways, but he can still be quite childish himself when given the right situation. Overall he seems to have a good understanding of the concept of good and evil, however he did not seem to notice/care as much before he met Masayoshi.

Abilities[]

While Hidenori does not have many special abilities, he is able to use many common weapons police use and he is shown to be a fairly skilled shot that he has probably undergone standard police training.

Relationships[]

Masayoshi Hazama[]

Prior to meeting Masayoshi, Hidenori had little to no friends. Because of this, the two quickly became attached to one another, phoning each other in times of need and even spending time at each other's houses. Although Hidenori often sees Masayoshi as being childish and naive, he still respects and cares for him, and even aids him in his vigilant crime-fighting.

In Episode 22, Masayoshi proposes to Hidenori telling him that he wishes to protect him and do everything for him that his girlfriend never had the chance to. Although Hidenori does not give him a straight answer at the time, they are shown to be getting married in the mobile card game, with Masayoshi's card being titled "June Bride" and Hidenori's being titled "Raising a Toast".

In the manga subsequent to the anime, Samurai Flamenco: Another Days, Masayoshi and Hidenori are shown to still be living together and they are portrayed as being closer and relatively more comfortable with one another.

Mari Maya[]

Mari is shown to have a physical attraction to Hidenori, which he often dismisses and ignores, much to her dismay. He initially is not fond of Mari and her attempts to seduce him but, throughout the series, he grows to not mind her, even allowing her to temporarily live in his apartment when she was experiencing immense stress and sadness.

Unnamed Girlfriend[]

Episode 19[]

According to his mother, she explains to Masayoshi Hazama and Mari Maya on how "When Hidenori was in high school, he had a relationship with a classmate. He brought her home a number of times. She was a cute, cheerful, lovely girl. But one day, she caught a bus home and ended up missing. When they found the bus in front of a bus stop, it was empty. The driver and single passenger had vanished. Hidenori and the police searched all over for her, but there were no witnesses or clues. They were never able to find her. Hidenori acted like his soul had been sucked out. He spent each day in a daze. After a while, the search was still going nowhere, but Hidenori began receiving messages from his girlfriend on his cell phone."

Episode 22[]

Even after his girlfriend mysteriously vanished, Hidenori still kept texting her and hoped that she would respond. Until one day, his girlfriend's father stopped by Hidenori's house and where he tells him "Could you stop sending messages? It's becoming a problem." after Hidenori constantly kept texting.

Hidenori declines and says "I haven't given up yet." The girlfriend's father agreed, but continues by saying "But every time a message arrives, we're reminded that she's gone." He then handed Hidenori her cell phone and said that "You can have this." before leaving the house. Hidenori texts his girlfriend that her father is feeling depressed and suddenly receives a text from her cell phone. From then on, Hidenori starts sending messages from his cell phone to his girlfriend's cell phone wherever he goes.

He then proceeds to grab the cell phone out of the fire, but his mother stops him by saying "Forget about her! You must forget her!"
